The macOS build is tuned for Apple Silicon

Telegram for macOS ships as a universal binary. On Apple Silicon it runs natively — no Rosetta, no translation layer, and noticeably lower memory usage than the Electron builds many other messengers rely on. Intel Macs get the same feature set with the x86_64 slice of the same package.

Install Telegram on MacBook or iMac in three steps

  1. Tap Download for macOS — the App Store opens on the Telegram product page.
  2. Confirm with your Apple ID — Face ID, Touch ID, or password all work.
  3. Launch Telegram from Launchpad — enter your phone number, approve the login code, and every chat syncs from the cloud.

macOS-specific Telegram features

  • Touch Bar shortcuts for reply, emoji, and voice on supported MacBook Pro models.
  • Focus mode integration silences chats automatically when your Mac enters Work or Sleep.
  • Menu bar quick actions keep account switching one click away.
  • Native PIP video calls hover above any window without stealing focus.
  • Continuity Camera support lets you use your iPhone as a webcam from macOS Ventura upward.

Keep Telegram for macOS up to date automatically

Because the client lives on the Mac App Store, macOS handles updates whenever you enable automatic downloads in System Settings → App Store. Manual updaters can trigger a check from the App Store app → Updates tab.
